NWHL Foundation To Host Canadian Training Camp Series

New York, NY – The NWHL Foundation will host a Canadian Training Camp Series in four different Canadian cities, the Foundation announced Thursday.

The camps will take place from July 6th-9th, in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, and Windsor. This series is just the latest stop on the NWHL’s tour of training camps this summer. Camps have already been held in each of the NWHL’s four founding cities, and an international camp is coming up on July 23rd-27th in Boston.

WFCU-Centre02-615x421“Although we are currently an American-based league, there's a lot of talent in Canada,” NWHL Commissioner Dani Rylan said. “This training camp tour provides Canadian players with the same opportunities the local players in the Connecticut, Boston, New York, and Buffalo markets had earlier this summer.”

While the training camps are another important step in preparing for the NWHL’s inaugural season for both teams and players, they also fall in line with the NWHL Foundation’s overarching goal of promoting the growth of women’s hockey. The camps will provide more playing opportunities for women in different areas.

“The NWHL Foundation spans across international borders and we want to provide opportunities for all women to play regardless of where they call home,” Rylan said.

Attendance for the Canadian Training Camp Series is on an invite-only basis, and only those who have graduated from college are eligible to register. Players looking to register can do so for free at Canada Tour Camp Registration beginning June 12th. The registration period will officially end on July 3rd.
